Recently my partner and I did a Liver Flush. We could not believe the amount of cholesterol stones we passed, and there was me thinking we were super healthy. That was over 2 months ago, we have both been eating what we normally would have, yet continue to slowly lose old fat. The whole experience changed my views on food and as a result I now appreciate just how important some foods are. Turmeric is crucial for good liver function and has been linked to numerous other health benefits.
You may be lucky enough to find raw fresh turmeric in your local supermarket. I bought $5 worth at a Henry's. It is of the ginger family, looks very similar, like ginger's skinny red cousin.
I was super excited, but didn't have a clue what to do with it. I peeled a small chunk and nibbled. Not horrible but not nice either. Kind of tasted like a bland carrot with a hint of ginger.
I could tell right off the bat that it wasn't going to have a lead role in a dish, rather a supporting one.
2 inches of ginger
2 inches of turmeric
1 large jalapeno
A whole bulb of garlic
1/4 cup of peanut oil
Good pinch of Himalayan sea salt
Pepper
Chop everything into small pieces, blitz with a stick blender and then use as a base for any curry.
I will post the dish I've made once I've made it...doh!
