soaking list:
do this: 1. place first list in bowl, cover with water and soak for 1/2 hour. add everything but the yeast, and blend until creamy, then add yeast and blend again, add water if needed. wash and dry your leaves of choice (if using kale or mustard greens, break up into bite size pieces and discard the vascular stems) and then coat the edges of a bowl with a thin layer of mixture. add a handful of leaves to the bowl and gently stir until leaves are all coated. place on a paraflexx sheet and pop in a dehydrator at 105 until brittle, 12-24hours. left over mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days. If you are lucky enough to have a Vitamix® then you can take things to a whole new level by sprouting your seeds before making a smoothie. Simply soak your selection in filtered water half an hour before using. The little darlings will think it's time to grow and release life giving enzymes.
sprouted breakfast smoothie: 1/2 T each of flax, chia, hemp, sesame 1T each of sunflower seeds, dehydrated pumpkin seeds 1/4 cup of sprouted oatmeal 1/2 a punnet of fruit of choice, strawberries today (if you use blackberries, zap and put through a strainer first of you get what seems like grit from the tiny little annoying seeds, it's a texture thing) 1 banana 1 apple pear or whatever you have in your kitchen 1/2t turmeric (getting it in you, your liver will love you) 1/2 a tray of ice soak all the seeds in filtered water, prep fruit of choice, place in vitamix, add seeds and oatmeal ice and whatever else and blend until smooth 'taste so good and good for you!' Stole this idea from my local Sushi Tashiro in RPV. I always wondered how they got their onions so thin and confetti like. Last week I popped in for lunch and they were prepping for dinner. Through the glass fish fridge walls I watched one of the chefs cutting a couple of dozen onions at once. He would get just about to the elastic band, then take it off and place it an inch down the stems. Works for anything from 3 too 30 onions and beyond. Endless onion possibilities. The little darlings will think it's time to grow and release life giving enzymes. “Soaking allows enzymes, lactobacilli and other helpful organisms to break down and neutralize a large portion of phytic acid in grains. Soaking in warm water also neutralizes enzyme inhibitors, present in all seeds, and encourages the production of numerous beneficial enzymes. The action of these enzymes also increases the amount of many vitamins, especially B vitamins. During the process of soaking and fermenting, gluten and other difficult-to-digest proteins are partially broken down into simpler components that are more readily available for absorption.” breakfast smoothie: 1/2 T each of flax, chia, hemp, sesame 1T each of sunflower seeds, dehydrated pumpkin seeds 1/4 cup oatmeal 1/2 a punnet of fruit of choice, strawberries today (if you use blackberries, zap and put through a strainer first of you get what seems like grit from the tiny little annoying seeds, it's a texture thing) 1 banana 1/2t turmeric (getting it in you, your liver will love you) 1/2 a tray of ice soak all the seeds in filtered water, prep fruit of choice, place in vitamix, add seeds and oatmeal ice and whatever else and blend until smooth You will be super human until lunch time with no need for snacking. |
